How to create a portfolio
This article explains how different types of portfolios can be created on Asora.
A portfolio is a combination of accounts and/or assets mainly created to track performance.
On Asora, you can create two types of portfolios:
- Active portfolio: An active portfolio updates automatically based on the accounts/providers selected when adding a portfolio. These portfolios can be created as a combination of formal accounts (Account filter) or a combination of asset level filters such as category, asset classes 1, 2 and 3, and currency. When new financial instruments are added to chosen accounts or providers, or such that they match the asset-level filters chosen in the portfolio, they are automatically included in the portfolio and do not need to be manually added.
- Static portfolio: A static portfolio is one which includes individual assets and hence does not update automatically when new assets are added to the platform. If a user wants to include new assets to an existing portfolio, they would have to edit the portfolio and select the new asset.
The video below shows how to create different types of portfolios:
Active portfolios
- Owner Based
These portfolios are built around selected owner and entities, and depending on other filters applied, will include all accounts and assets owned directly by them.
- Provider based
These portfolios are designed to automatically update and incorporate new accounts that meet the provider filter criteria set at the account level during portfolio creation.
- Individual accounts based
These portfolios automatically update to include any new holdings that are added to the accounts chosen while creating the portfolio.
- Asset dimension based
These portfolios automatically update to include any new holdings that match the asset level filters set at the asset level during portfolio creation.
Static portfolios
These portfolios are a combination of individually selected assets and will not automatically update to include any other unselected or new assets since no filters are set.
